Give your old phone one last check
Connect to Wi-Fi and power, then open your backup app. Confirm that recent photos and videos have finished uploading before you move on.
Prepare your access
Make sure you can access the email account used to sign in. Review the app’s current encryption-key and recovery instructions before resetting your old phone.
Verify on the new device
Install the app from its official Google Play listing. Follow its sign-in and vault-access steps. Open a selection of older and newer files and check video playback.
Then retire the old phone
Only reset your old device after you are confident your important files are accessible elsewhere. Use remote sign-out for devices you no longer use.
